Academic Year
It is divided into two semesters:
First semester: 2nd week of March - 1st week of July
Second semester: last week of July - 1st week of November.

International students planning to stay at the USAL for a full year, we recommend that they apply from March to November.

Characteristics of USAL's academic system:
The University is made of "FACULTADES" (Schools) and "ESCUELAS" where one or more academic degrees are offered.

Our academic system is based on a mandatory curriculum with a structured study plan for every year of a degree. Argentine students take all their courses with the same group of classmates. In order to facilitate social immersion in the classrooms, we suggest that international students try to take most of their courses in the same major and class year.

The language of instruction is Spanish, Intermediate level of the language is required at the USAL.

Classes are mainly lecture type courses.

Class size ranges from 10 to 40 students.

Registration requirements for international students:

International students should register in a minimum number of 5 courses.

International students may register in any subject offered in any major according to their interests, academic background and Spanish proficiency.

Class attendance is mandatory. Students must have a minimum of 75% attendance rate.
